The detox treatment in Tennessee involves the family of the patient to a significant extent, especially after the patient is discharged from the treatment center and is back with the family. This participation is in various ways, ranging from making the families feel like the integral part of the treatment program that they are and actually enlisting their help in monitoring and preventing situations in which the patient might suffer from a relapse.

Actually, the family is involved in the program for detox treatment in Tennessee right from the start. Here are some ways in which their cooperation is sought.

Helping the Patient to accept the Treatment

Even if the patient is enrolled in a treatment center in Tennessee, it is not necessary that they will accept the treatment right away. This is denial, a very significant problem that detox programs in Tennessee face. In order to help the patients overcome this denial and accept a suitable mode of treatment, it is necessary to enlist the support of the family. People close to the patient can convince them in getting through the treatment. This is where the family has to play the first significant role during the detox treatment.

Discussing Treatment Options

The treatment providers at every detox center in Tennessee would ask the opinion of the family as to which treatment program they would want to put the patient in. there are several ways in which a detox treatment is conducted, and after explaining to the families what these different treatment plans will offer to the patient, they are left alone to decide which option they would like to choose.

Family Counseling

Some centers for detox treatment , especially those who work in coordination with rehabilitation centers will have their own programs to counsel families on how they should go through the entire treatment program. Coping with the addiction is another issue that the family needs to be trained in. in most centers, there could be a family counseling program of about three days in which the families of all the patients of the center are called together, and counseled, so that they can be taught what they must do in order to bring a proper recovery for the patient.

This is a good opportunity for the families of the carious patients to come together and share their options and find what constructive things they can do for better recovery.

After Detox Treatment

This is the part of the program where the use of the family is made to a very large extent in the detox treatment program in Tennessee. Firstly, the family is notified when the patient's discharge is scheduled to happen. They will likely be called before this appointed date and a counselor would speak at length with the family. They will be made to understand that detoxification is not the end of the treatment program and that the patient is definitely not completely recovered from the addiction. They will be made to see that a relapse can occur if the patient or even their family is not too careful.

However, families are trained on how they can prevent such an eventuality. They are taught to identify the risk factors that can bring on a relapse in the patient. They are taught to recognize the signals that indicate a relapse can happen. And, most importantly, they are told what they should do if such a relapse does occur.

The one thing that is stressed upon the families during this part of the counseling is that they must slowly involve the patient in all socially constructive events that they can. They must be made to mingle with their constructive peer group, rejoin clubs that they might have left and visit social events and functions. This is important as a part of social rehabilitation which is important to get the patient towards a complete recovery.

In most cases, the counselors will also counsel the families on getting the patients back into their studies or their jobs, whichever they were doing before they got addicted to the substance. If it is difficult for them to resume these activities, the families are trained on what they can do about it, or which alternatives they can use that can rehabilitate patients treated from an addiction in this manner.

Whatever be the case, the one thing that is very emphatically stressed on the families is that the patient must be provided as normal a setting as possible so that they do not feel too depressed again, which could be a precipitating factor in taking them to a re-addiction.
